From August 16 to 17, Riga will host the Baltics’ largest and most important sport fishing competition in spinning from a boat – the Garmin Predator Cup 2024, gathering more than 110 anglers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Ukraine.
Participants will compete by fishing for the three longest pike, zander, and perch in the Daugava, Ķīšezers, Lielais and Mazais Baltezers, Juglas ezers, Lielupe, and other waters of Riga, vying for an impressive prize fund, which in this year’s competition exceeds 40,000 EUR.
The start of the race is scheduled at the City Yacht Club on August 16 at 8:25 a.m., where all 56 participating boats will gather at the start. The finish is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. On the evening of August 16 at 6:30 p.m., the traditional Riga city canal boat parade will take place, visible to every guest of the Riga festival. About 50 fully equipped and powerful sports boats are expected to participate in the parade. The boat parade will start at 6:30 p.m. at the City Yacht Club, from where the boats will go to Andrejosta, the Riga City Canal, and return to the City Yacht Club.
On the second day of the competition, athletes will again start at 8:25 a.m. and finish at 5:00 p.m. Both days will feature live video broadcasts of the competition on social networks and also on the Best4Sport TV channel from 18 boats and the competition studios, where this year’s guests will include Kaspars Holms, Normunds Ikomas, Māris Olte, Uģis Circenis, Māris Lietuvietis, Arvis Ančevskis, Reinis Ošenieks, Vilmārs Vjakse, Gatis Silenieks, Inga Pīlādze, Loreta Birzule, Mārtiņš Balodis, Kristaps Kotāns, podcast “Copes frekvence” (Renārs Upītis, Igors Zemīts), Ansis Zeltiņš, Tomas Kulbis, Arturs Zabors, Oskars Hartmanis, and others. The live broadcasts will be hosted by Gunārs Klēģers and Juris Bārtulis.
The competition is organized by the association “Fishing Club OSPREY” in cooperation with the Free Port of Riga. The general sponsor is GARMIN, with the main supporters being Eholotes.eu, BTA, and Salmo.
