After two exciting and intense days of competition, the team from Lithuania, Powerboat/Monn Kota (Domas Kelpsas and Gediminas Švilpa), triumphed over 110 athletes at the Garmin Predator Cup 2024 (GPC 2024). NGT Latvia (Toms Klabis and Gatis Ernstsons) secured second place on the second day of the competition, while ULMUS MEDUS Fishing Team – Linards Spēlmanis and Krists Spēlmanis – rounded out the top three.
The key to the winners’ success was consistency over the two days, including catching the competition’s longest zander at 88 cm. In total, Powerboat/Minn Kota scored 629 points over the two days, NGT Latvia scored 602 points, surpassing the third-place ULMUS MEDUS Fishing Team by just one point.
The longest pike of the competition (113 cm) was caught by the NGT Latvia team – Armands Geriks and Jānis Svārpstons, who narrowly missed entering the top 3 by one perch. The longest zander (88 cm) was credited to the winners Powerboat/Minn Kota, while the longest perch (42 cm) was caught by the duo Edgars Deičmanis and Evaldas Bubulis – Humminbird Baltics.
The overall winners took the lead after the first day of competition and solidified their serious ambitions with excellent zanders early on the second day, maintaining their top position until the end of the competition. SPX Fishing Team (Aivis Karetnikovs, Aigars Lubgāns) took fourth place, Laiks Copei/Baltic XL (Jānis Malnačs, Mareks Mercs) took fifth place, while Fish Hunters (Guntars Ločmans, Ruslans Semjonovs) finished the TOP6.
