“TEAM ASAKAINIE” – WINNERS OF THE “GARMIN PREDATOR CUP 2023”!

After two days of emotion-filled and tense competition days, in the “Garmin Predator Cup 2023” (GPC 2023) competition of 174 athletes, “Team Asakainie” – Oto Marinaki and AleKSis Švarnovičs triumphed, with an impressive score of 124 points ahead of the 2nd place winners – “Fish Hunters” – Guntars Ločmanis and Ruslans Semjonovs, and last year’s second place winners “Ar Makšķeri/Makskerlietas.lv” – Toms Klabis and Jānis Zariņš – secured the 3rd place. Thus, the winners of the tournament got the main prize of the tournament worth 30,000 EUR – VIZION aluminum boats.
GPC 2023 took place on August 19 and 20 and became the biggest fishing competition ever in the Baltics, gathering 87 crews from Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine. The participants competed by fishing for the 3 longest pike, zander and perch in the lakes and rivers of Riga. The race was opened with a thunderstorm and a magnificent parade of boats of the participants on the Riga city canal on Friday evening.

After the first day of competition, the first three places were taken by “Team Asakainie” (Oto Marinaki, Aleksis Švarnovičs), “Fish Hunters” (Guntars Ločmanis, Ruslans Semjonovs), “S&D Fishing Team” (Sergejs Bibičevs, Dmitrijs Apolonovs). The winners of the first two places also managed to maintain their position on the second day with a very good performance, and in the middle of the day, when “Team Asakainie” got their second trophy pike (109cm and 110cm), it became very difficult for the competitors to threaten their positions. Over two days, no other team managed to catch a single pike over the one meter mark. The longest perch (44cm) of the competition was caught by the third place winners of “Ar makšķeri/Makskerlietas.lv – Toms Klabis and Jānis Zariņš, while the longest zander (74cm) was caught by last year’s third place winners – team “Lucky John” – Ruslans Baranovs and Aleksandars Zareckis,(17th place this year). The results of the competition can be found at the link https://ej.uz/GPC2023.
