The predator fishing competition, Garmin Predator Cup Latvia 2024 (GPC 2024), will take place this year on August 16 and 17 in the rivers and lakes around Riga. During these two days, participants will compete for the largest ever prize fund in the history of Baltic fishing competitions, which will exceed EUR 40,000. On August 16, a traditional sportsmen’s boat parade will take place on the Riga Canal.
The winner of GPC 2024 will be determined by the sum of points awarded for each centimeter of length of the three largest pike, zander, and perch accepted in the competition. It is possible to earn an additional 100 points if the crew catches at least three fish of each mentioned species.
In the competition, both an individual crew consisting of two anglers and a team consisting of two separate crews can apply.
Mārtiņš Balodis, representative of the organizing association “Makskernieku klubs OSPREY,” stated, “”Garmin Predator Cup” is the biggest fishing event in Latvia and also in the Baltics. Every year we pay more and more attention outside of Latvia, and we expect that this year the competition will gather the best fishermen not only from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia but also from other countries. This year, too, we will take care of both the comfort of participants and provide exciting support for fishing fans.”
GPC traditionally involves anglers of various levels trying to catch the three longest pike, zander, and perch over two days. The prize fund provided for the tournament is the largest among the competitions in the Baltic States, with the main sponsors—GARMIN, Eholotes.eu, and BTA – ensuring its success.
Dmitrijs Lisicins, GARMIN Sales and Marketing Manager in the Baltic States, remarked, “Our ambitions, similar to those of successful fishing athletes, grow every year. It is a pleasure that with such a sports festival, we can now traditionally gather both professional athletes and skilled amateurs from several countries in Riga, as well as fans, whose numbers are increasing every year.”
Any angler who has reached the age of 18 can participate in GPC 2024, with the exception of athletes from Russia and Belarus. The participation fee for one crew is 300 EUR until June 10, 350 EUR until July 10, and 400 EUR until August 10. You can register for the competition at sportfishing.live.
The competition is organized by the association “Osprey” in cooperation with the Latvian Fishing Sports Federation. The general sponsor is GARMIN. The main supporters are Eholotes.eu, BTA, Shimano and Freeport of Riga.
